The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) completed the final set of awards on ProTech, a service-related contract vehicle. Twenty-two companies in total were awarded for the “Weather” portion of the vehicle, which is NOAA’s mandated strategic sourcing vehicle to consolidate services into a single procurement.
The Weather track is one of four portions of ProTech. The others include Oceans, Satellite and Fisheries. ProTech has a ceiling of $3 billion for its two-year base and three option years, and a total of 86 companies total have won seats on it. The Ocean track was awarded back in January 2019 to 24 companies.
The Weather portion of the vehicle includes services to assist with daily weather forecasting, severe storm alerts and climate observation. This involves scientific/technical research, studies, needs assessments, experiments, and evaluations of both economic valuation, return-on-investment efforts, making predictive models, and creation of analytical and forecasting tools.
Nine awardees for the Weather track were unrestricted businesses, and the remainder included socio-economic set-asides for small business, woman-owned small business (WOSB), service-disabled veteran owned small business (SDVOSB), and HUBZone. Given that ProTech is a new vehicle, there are no incumbents.
