Big tech firms like Google and Apple aren’t the only ones investing in Artificial Intelligence. The Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) just awarded 57 companies on its new 5-year Intelligent Automation/Artificial Intelligence (IAAI) contract. This IDIQ has a value of $49 million and can be used not only by DHHS but other federal agencies as well. The 57 winners on this IDIQ will be bidding on several functional areas including: applied ideation and design support, engineering and process engineering support, systems design, and engineering, prototyping and model making support.
The Program Support Center (PSC), hosted by DHHS, is looking to leverage rapidly evolving new technology such as blockchain, machine learning/artificial intelligence, and robotic process automation to enhance its abilities. It’s predicted that the solutions created by IAAI contracts will help reduce backlog, drive down costs, and fulfill purposes including fraud prevention and suspect identification via facial recognition technology.
As a bit of background, the PSC is the largest multi-function shared service provider to the federal government. It is a shared service provider offering over 40 services including acquisition support to DHHS and its component agencies as well as other federal agencies. As a shared service provider, PSC’s focus is on delivering mission support functions more efficiently. It is well positioned to obtain technical solutions that create efficiencies and cost savings for DHHS and throughout the Federal Government.
